Visiting south Florida and looking for some inexpensive things to do? Located between West Palm Beach and Miami, Boca Raton boasts beautiful beaches and a suburban feel. Check out our list below of the best budget friendly and free things to do in Boca Raton.

1. Fogelman Sports Museum – FREE

The Fogelman Sports Museum is our top choice of fun and unique locations in the area. Located at the Schmidt Family Complex for Academic and Athletic Excellence at FAU, you’ll find one of the biggest individual private sports libraries that exists. Take a walk through the progression of American sports over time! The collection was donated by Avron Fogelman, a Former Kansas City Royals owner and Boca Raton resident. 2. Quiet Waters Park – $6 per car

Another great attraction in the Boca Raton area is Quiet Waters Park. This park is enormous and has several different entrances depending on your activity of choice. There is a mountain bike park – which contains seven miles of off-road bike trails ranging in skill level from beginner to expert. To ride the trails, stop in office to watch safety video and sign waiver. Mountain bikes only (no street bikes) and helmets are required. Riders can buy $5 day pass.

Also at the park are tons of great walking paths, picnic areas Splash Adventure at Quiet Waters – in addition this amazing park, you can spend a hot day at their small water park. Better than most of the county pools, and for the reasonable price of $6 a person for the water park, the kids can ride small slides and play.

Want to spend the big bucks? The park has a Ski Rixen area too – where you can waterski and wakeboard without a boat. The tickets range from $25-$85 depending on what you are looking for.

3. Coral Springs Museum of Art – FREE

View a variety of art exhibits at this free museum in Coral Springs. Visit their website for current and past exhibit information, and also info about children’s programs that they hold throughout the year. They host a family art day every second Saturday of the month, Paint and Sip events for adults, sensory hour for those with special needs, and holiday themed events as well. 4. South Inlet Park – $3-4 an hour parking

For snorkeling and beaches, visit south Inlet Park. The parking at this beach is $3-$4 an hour – 1100 S Ocean Blvd, Boca Raton, FL 33432. At the inlet, you’ll find a large beach area, picnic area, restrooms, and a fishing pier. If you like to snorkel, the park contains a small snorkeling area within swimming distance of the beach. For better visibility, go when the water isn’t too choppy.

5. Sugar Sand Park – FREE

For the kids, visit Sugar Sand Park. This free park has an excellent splash pad and a three story high playground! Also at this park is a donation based Science Explorium for children, which is a hands on science center. Check their list of programs for upcoming events at the center. While at the park, take a ride on the Carousel for $1 per person. Please check their website for exact hours of attractions.

6. Mizner Park – FREE

Mizner Park is centrally located in Boca and contains an outdoor amphitheater, a movie theater complex, and a variety of stores and places to eat. There are often events in the park that are free of charge (such as their summer concert series), and of course no cost to walk around. This is a perfect place to take a stroll on a nice day.

7. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center – FREE

This is a unique place to visit on the coast with no admissions charge. Gumbo Limbo is a coastal preserve location on Boca’s barrier island and boasts several unique experiences for visitors. Talk a walk along the boardwalk and climb the stairs to the observation tower, stroll through the butterfly garden, or walk amongst several large outdoor aquariums. Additionally, on site is a marine-biology lab with ongoing research projects and also a sea turtle rehabilitation area. If you’d like to support sea turtle rehabilitation, feel free to shop in their on site gift store.
