If you haven’t been to this short but fast mountain bike park in Central Florida, you should give it a go! We rode Mt. Dora for the first time a few weeks ago, and we were not disappointed. Here you’ll find something for all levels of riders. But be sure to bring your helmet. At this park, helmets are required for all riders.
You’ll find this mountain bike park off the beaten trail a bit. It is tucked away in the small town community of Mt. Dora. If you were driving by, you wouldn’t even know it was there. When arriving, you’ll notice the baseball fields and a large dog park (on another note – we also recommend this dog park, our dogs loved it!) In between the fields and the dog park is the entrance to the mountain bike trail. There is plenty of parking in this area, especially if you are heading out during the week in the mornings or late on a weekend afternoon.
Once you find the entrance of the trail, you’ll see the pump track and warm up area. Are you a beginner or have kids with you? Practice in this area and steer clear of the bigger drops and more technical riding. Stay here a while if you want – you could just come for the pump track and still have a good time.
Trails
When you’re ready for something else, hit the trails next. All the trails at Mt. Dora are well marked, and it’s a small park so it’s fairly easy to get around. The beginner trails are mostly dirt with some roots. You will be riding downhill and it’s twisty. Even if you are a beginner, you can still comfortably ride these trails, just make sure you have a bike with front suspension at minimum.
If you’re looking for more adventure, off to the end of one of the trails is another area similar to a pump track, but with large dirt mounds and big drops. So the thrill riders – like my husband and daughters – enjoy this area. Check out our video below:
Lastly, if you’re feeling super adventurous, ride the “gravity destroyer” and get your adrenaline pumping! Unfortunately, since I didn’t ride this trail myself, I was unable to get pictures or video of my family riding it! Here is a YouTube video that shows what the trail is like. It’s short, but very fast and requires more expertise in riding and steering than the other trails at the park.
That’s a wrap about Mt. Dora bike park! This is one of the best bike parks in Central Florida! If you enjoy the area and want to do more, visit our page on the Mt. Dora Area.
