Looking for a fun and family friendly park in Clermont? Try Lake Minneola Trailhead Park. This park has various activities that kids and adults alike will enjoy. There’s a dog park, skate park, playground, fitness area, and restrooms. Don’t forget to bring a bike or a skateboard if you want to explore the skate park and the nearby trail.
For the adults, there is a walking trail and a fitness area, with various outdoor equipment to work on strength training. Both kids and adults and enjoy the ramps at the skate park. Kids can take a break from skateboarding and explore playing at the large playground. My child’s favorite at this park is one of the spinning saucers (pictured below). If playgrounds aren’t your kids’ thing, there are several large grass areas to run or to kick a soccer ball. Also, the park has a basketball court adjacent to the playground.
For your furry family members, stop by the well-kept dog park. Shaded and turf lined, this park has an area for small dogs and a separate area for large dogs.
The Trail
As the name of the park boasts, this park is a trailhead for the large bike trail system in the west Orlando area. The Lake Minneola Trailhead directly connects to the 9 mile South Lake Trail (see trail map here.) The South Lake trail is a paved multi-use trail, most commonly used for running and biking. It does have some rolling hills, which may surprise you if you aren’t from the area and are used to the general flat landscape in Florida. Heading west on the trail will run you into some scenic views of the lake. If you’re really up for a long ride, you can head east and connect to the longer West Orange Trail, which runs about 19 miles.
We hope you will explore this park as much as we did! Finally, for more to do in the area, visit our page on Free Activities in Mt. Dora, Clermont, and Leesburg.
