Looking for a fun park in Orlando that is budget friendly? Visit Bill Frederick Park for a peaceful experience with a view of Turkey Lake. The park offers several activities for a fun-filled family day. Go for a bike ride, walk, or bring your kayak. If you’re into disc golf, they have a course here too!
Bill Frederick is tucked away in a neighborhood, and sometimes goes un-noticed. You can access the park by taking the Conroy Road exit of 1-4 and heading west. The entry fee is $5 a car, and the gates hours are from 9-5. You’re only allowed in the park after 5 if you are camping at the campground.
Trail
First, our favorite part of the park is the loop trail. A 2-mile paved trails loops around the circumference of the park. It’s hilly which is unique in Florida, especially in Orlando. You can walk, run, or ride a scooter, bike, etc. The trail runs along the lake for about a 1/2 mile.
Along the trail you will also pass the playground – fairly large and suitable for ages 5-12, the campground, and a cute little “children’s farm”. The children’s farm has a few animals that you can look at as you are going by. Along the paved trail, there is also a nature trail offshoot from the main path. Near the playground are picnic tables and restrooms. Across from the playground, you will see the lake access where you can rent a kayak or boat. Turkey Lake is a top rated spot for fishing in the area and there are several spots where you can drop a line. A shaded disc golf course runs through the back half of the park. The park maintains the disc golf trails very well, and there were several people playing while we walked the path.
Towards the center of the park is the public swimming pool. We did not visit the pool during our stay, but it looks like they have specific hours, so please call the park before attempting to swim there.
