Looking for a quiet spot to learn some history with your family or friends? Take a trip to historic Fort Christmas. This is an excellent and free way to see history come alive. With numerous buildings to walk through, allow a few hours for this trip so that you can fully soak in and enjoy the experience.
Historic Fort Christmas is located just east of Titusville, and northeast of Orlando along state road 50. Christmas is a small town along this highway, with some cute shops and other stops you can make while there. To get to the historic area, you will get off the main road for about a mile.
The fort area has a basketball court, playground, restroom, and tennis court, if you are staying in the area and looking to get some exercise while visiting. The rest of the park is the historic fort and plantation buildings.
At the beginning, you will find a replica of the Fort that was located about a mile away. Inside the replica, there are several rooms where you can view artifacts. Outside of the fort replica are several outbuildings that show what life was like in this part of Florida back in the 1900’s. There are a couple of old farmhouses, still staged like they would have been 100 years ago. There is even an old post office!
If you have a little extra time in your day and you are going to be close to Orlando or Titusville, make a stop at historic Fort Christmas! For more to do in the area, visit our pages on Orlando or the Rockledge area.
