Looking for a cozy spot to swim this summer? Check out Hunter Springs Swimming Hole, a free beach and cool springs.

We happened upon this neat little swimming hole the last time we were visiting Crystal River. It’s close to downtown and is super easy to access. I’m sure on the weekends it is packed, but we stopped by during the week and were able to find parking and a nice spot by the water.
Hunter Springs is completely free! All you pay for is parking, which is $1 an hour. The park has a walk in beach access area and a large roped off section for swimming. Bring your tube, float, and your snorkel for a great afternoon. The water is always a nice refreshing 72 degrees and super blue! In the winter, it is common to see manatees in the area.
Not into swimming? You can also launch a kayak or paddle board here in a separate section. If you want to rent one there are several places in the area that offer rentals.

To the side of the beach, there is also a playground area as well as a restroom. There is also a short boardwalk area to view wildlife without getting in the water!
Hope you’ll stop by and take a swim this summer. While you’re in the area, don’t forget to check out our list of other free and cheap things to do in Crystal River.
